Hague, SK – May 22, 2026 – Sunshine Housing Inc. and Zak’s Building Group are proud to announce a transformative community partnership that will bring a new, fully accessible home to life in Hague, Saskatchewan. Zak’s has committed to a donation of over $100,000, including building materials, skilled labour, and full project management services, to renovate Sunshine Housing’s newly purchased home on 6th Street.
This contribution plays a critical role in advancing the mission and vision of Sunshine Housing Inc. The mission of Sunshine Housing Inc. is to provide person-centered supports to adults with varying abilities by enhancing their quality of life including physical, social, emotional and spiritual well-being. The vision of Sunshine Housing Inc. is that all people deserve an equal opportunity to a full and meaningful life.
The new home (name to be determined) is designed to support four individuals and will feature barrier-free layouts and adaptive living spaces tailored to evolving needs. The project stems directly from Sunshine Housing’s strategic planning efforts, which identified the need to expand and modernize infrastructure to better support aging individuals and those with increasing accessibility requirements – allowing them to remain in the community they call home.
“The partnership and investment from Zak’s Building Group is more than a contribution to the building – it’s a true commitment to the people we support,” said Jenn Rutka, Executive Director, Sunshine Housing Inc. “It allows individuals to continue living in the community they know and love, with the supports they need to thrive. We are incredibly grateful to Zak’s Building Group for their generous donation and project management of this renovation.”
Zak’s Building Group began renovations shortly after Sunshine Housing took possession of the home on April 1. The partnership was sparked through a shared vision of community impact and long-term support.
“When we learned about Sunshine Housing’s goal to create a fully accessible home, we knew this was something we wanted to be part of,” said Chad Zacharias, Chief Construction Officer, Zak’s Building Group. “This project is about more than construction – it’s about creating a place where people feel at home, supported, and connected. We’re honoured to contribute to something that will have such a lasting impact.”
Renovations by Zak’s are currently underway, with plans to celebrate the completion of the home through a future grand opening event later this year – welcoming the individuals who will live there in a meaningful and personal way.
